This lovely medieval building, facing south, is built in blocks of solid stone, having kept the beautiful large original slabs of pink and golden sandstone, and inside medieval stairs and fireplace.
Much of the house has recently been discreetly modernized: there is the vast stone living room, with a mezzanine, and stylized metal joinery, and contemporary kitchen in solid acacia wood, a designer bath, and a covered terrace with a beautiful view over the river and the hills. Going down an original staircase in solid stone you arrive at the artists' workshop (170m2) - a vast space cross vaulted and illuminated on the west side by a XIVth porchway. Here there are two large sandstone vaults (54m2 and 47m2), restored in the "rules of art "( old fashioned way) with natural lime and river sand ... creating a real haven of creativity.
There is still part of the building to be restored, including the beautiful inner courtyard and the rooms leading off it.
In the grounds there are terraces with trees and lawns lined with Mediterranean flowers and rare roses ... two streams cross the property, and a protected area where you can bathe directly in the river, or go boating, and there is a pumped irrigation system to water all the grounds, from the river.
Although this house is isolated, it is only minutes away from Chambonas (one of the most beautiful villages in Southern Ardèche, with a restaurant) and 7 kilometers from Les Vans.

In Les Vans you have all facilities, schools, medical services, supermarkets, DIT, and a myriad of charming restaurants and bars in centre of this old town. Every Saturday there is a very popular market, where local producers come to sell their wares. You can buy goats' cheese from 1 day old, 2 days' old, three days' old up to two weeks' old...and taste them all first!
Les Vans is just 40 miles from the A7 motorway, and from there you can go north or south. It is in the southern Ardèche, a beautiful unspoilt region. of southern Ardèche. There is so much to see and do here. Lots of lively weekly markets, where producers sell their own produce, stunning walks, canoeing, many famous caves including the cavern Pont d'Arc, recently opened to the public. The Ardèche Gorges are very close by and are not to be missed. You can swim in the rivers, go to water parks, visit lovely old walled towns, have a coffee in the sunshine, go wine tasting at one of the many vineyards or sample the very famous Ardèche beer!
