Introduction
This stunning property was built circa 1930 by the owner of a large department store in Lisbon to be used as his luxury weekend countryside retreat. The locals say he was originally from the town…He built the Solar (the name Solar is used to describe a noble family luxury home…) with no expense spared and filled it with valuable 'Viuva Lamego' hand painted wall tiles… had 12 servants living on the ground floor. It was the first Solar in the area to have electricity and pumped water…The property was left to ruin for many years. In 2008 a reputable local building company purchased the Solar with a view of opening an hotel. The renovations were done, including solar panels on the roof for hot water. Central heating… etc…
In addition to what you can see here on offer in the photos the owner will install a 6mx4m swimming pool once purchase is guaranteed if required, there's some hardcore that has been left on the lower level with this in mind.
The price includes all furniture … many antiques, all fixtures and fittings and white goods.
Layout
The property briefly comprises of entrance hall through double wooden and glass etched doors. This leads to a further inner hall with main kitchen to the right, with integral electric eye level oven, gas hob with extractor, dishwasher, and fridge/freezer. There is also a breakfast bar, floor and wall units.
From the inner hall to the left there is a stairway, leading to lower level, where there is a large area to the left suitable for a games room/ entertaining area etc, to the right a large servants kitchen, with washer and dryer, units etc. There is also a dry cellar with wooden door, up to 300 bottles of wine storage. A bespoke stone sink. To the rear of the lower area is a wc/changing room and the boiler room, and door to access rear of the property.
Back to the inner hall, straight ahead there are a couple of steps leading to very large drawing room with windows to either side and large a/c system. There are plenty of sockets, TV connections etc… To the back of the reception room are two further rooms. To the left, a large room with window to the side, to the right a large room with window and doorway to a wet room.
The corridor leads to a smaller rear hallway, to the left a further WC with shower, urinal, sink etc. The cosy rear hallway has a set of double doors leading to rear balcony with stone balustrades and steps that lead to rear 2 level garden.
From the main front hall, to the left is a further inner hallway with window to the front, and original ornate tiled floor. There is the main oak staircase that winds up past a large stain glassed window on the landing. The landing leads to an upper front salon with large arch window to the front of the Solar and original ornate tiled floor, leading to a central corridor that currently has 6 large rooms. Currently two rooms have en-suite shower rooms with wc. Plus a house bathroom that could be converted into two further en-suites. One of the rooms is currently used as an upper kitchen fully fitted with electric oven, gas ob, extractor, dishwasher, central island. *This could easily be converted to a further bedroom etc if required. This leads to a small rear sun terrace. The room at the end of the central corridor is currently used as a further upper reception room, but could be ideally used a a master bedroom. It has windows to the side and rear, with doors leading to a small sun terrace/study. There are many original features, including original ornate cornice to many ceilings, antique wall tiles, internal window shutters upstairs in the rear room,
There is further space in the next level, that we understand is could easily be converted into further bedrooms if required.
The Solar would suit itself to many purposes from a large family home, or small hotel / bed and breakfast.
The Solar is accessed by large decorative electric gates that lead into a very large front calcada courtyard that has orange trees.
There are led lights on the front gates and front courtyard. Also down the sides of the Solar and to the rear. There is also a watering system installed.
The rear is split into two levels. Currently left for the new owners to decide how they would like it. The rear is really a blank canvas for the new owner to decide how they would like it.
