Full Description

Superbly restored farmhouse with pool and private garden in the hills where the relaxing atmosphere of the Tuscan countryside meet the proximity of the elegant town of Lucca.\nLucca is a medieval walled town in Tuscany which is mostly pedestrian with picturesque piazzas and stone flagged lanes with shops, pretty cafes and some excellent restaurants.

The property dates back to 1863 and has been completely restored by the current owner to provide luxury accommodation and cleverly designed so that each house has its own private garden.

The large swimming pool (14 x 6.5 meters) together with further land of
22 000 m sq has been designed to blend with the existing surrounding landscape and is communal to all the units and is maintained by the property manager.

The houses have many original features and local Tuscan materials including chestnut rafters with terracotta inserts on the ceilings, terracotta floors and wood framed windows and shutters.

Unit 1 is 106 meters sq over two levels and is the corner unit entered from the private garden of 484 meters square and comprises entrance to the living room with fireplace and french windows to the garden and patio area at the back, kitchen, bathroom with shower;

upstairs there are 2 bedrooms and a further bathroom with shower.

The property is complete with central heating.

The garden has a shaded pergola for outdoor dining and automatic sprinkler system.

Private parking for 2 cars.

Lucca is just 4 km from the property and can be reached on foot through a park. Pisa (airport) 23 km, Beaches 25 km, Pietrasanta 35 km, Skiing in Abetone 60 km, Rome 349 km, Milan 278 km.

Lucca is often referred to as a secret gem and a quieter alternative to the more high-season tourist city of Florence (75 km). The town is encircled by the medieval walls with foot and bicycle paths under the plain trees. The cobbled streets abound with pastry shops and bicycles; visitors are more likely to be knocked down by an ambling bike than a car!

Lucca has no wide roads but a multitude of old churches, little piazzas, towers and family businesses. Behind many of the arched doors you will glimpse vaulted passageways and beautiful internal courtyards.

It’s possible to climb one or other of the two highest bell-towers to look out on the old terracotta rooftops of the town and over to the surrounding Tuscan hills.

One of the focus points of the town is the circular piazza with entrances at the four points of the compass and stands on the site of the town’s Roman amphitheatre.

Puccini was born in Lucca and there is a festival of his operas in the outdoor theatre overlooking a nearby lake. In the town itself there is a famous summer music festival in the large central piazza.
