About the Area
Boliqueime is a quaint little town with numerous Cafe's, restaurants and bars and holds small local festivals throughout the year. It has all amentities including post office and schools and there is access to the town from the train station.
Not far away is the larger town of LOULÉ, which is famous for its Saturday market and it's Brazilian style carnival, but also has an interesting historic area with a 13/14th CENTURY CASTLE. As well as the Saturday gypsy market it also has an excellent daily market in the new Arabian style market building which is open every morning except Sunday. Loule In June, is bursting with locals and tourists alike for the ‘Med Festival’, a four day celebration of music, dance, food, visual arts and handcrafts with various live bands and musicians performing each night, against a backdrop of castle walls and winding cobbled streets. In August, there is the spectacular and atmospheric ‘White Night’ party where the whole town is dressed in white and is once more, taken over with street entertainment musicians and theatre.
