This delightful character detached country house sits in beautiful countryside in a lush river valley, within a country hamlet located 4Kms from Benamargosa and within 30 minutes of the coast.

The house is situated close to other equally rustic, charming cottages, but is very private and peaceful.  Parking is adjacent to the property and there is space for making a private car parking area for one car at the top entrance to the house.

A pretty path leads past cytrus orchards to the main entrance to the house, or a few stone steps lead down from the upper entrance.  Taking the main entrance, the front door is located under a beautiful porch area, draped in climbing wisteria, with a flagstone floor patio area to one side, shaded by many plants and climbing foliage.  The front door leads into the hallway (3 x 3m) which sets the scene for the rest of this lovely house, with its beamed ceilings and original floors.  To the right is a door leading into an exquisite and unique room (bedroom 2) of around 4.5 x 3.5m on two levels with the remains of an original fireplace, alcoves and pillars.

Straight ahead is the inner hallway, (3 x 2m) with stairs up to the right, and a door to the left leading into Bedroom 1 (6 x 3m).  This room also has stairs that lead up to Bedroom 3 (5 x 3m).

From the inner hall, the stairs to the right lead up to the upper floor and straight into the reading room (6 x 3m). From here, double doors lead out onto an open terrace of around 3 x 2.5m with views over the lovely hilly countryside and lemon and orange orchards below.    A door from the reading room to one side leads into the spacious living room (5.2 x 3.5m) with fireplace and interesting features.  Double doors at the far end lead into the kitchen (4.5 x 3.5m), which is fully fitted, with an arch to the dining room (3.5 x 2.5m).

From the kitchen, an opening leads into the hallway by the patio door, and from here a low doorway leads back into the reading room at one side, and into the bathroom the other side.  The bathroom, yet again, full of original character and charm, is a generous 3 x 2.5m with bath and shower.

From the patio hallway, a spiral staircase leads up to the loft bedroom (Bedroom 4) which is around 4.5 x 3m.

From the patio hall, the door leads out into a walled outside patio area, a quiet, and very private area, with a small dip pool built into one side of the patio.  This is an ideal place to spend much of one's outdoor time, ideal for outdoor dining, entertaining or relaxing.  The owners use a 'sail' to protect the area from the sun in the Summer time.

From the patio, a gate takes us out onto a pathway.  The path to the right leads up stone steps to an upper entrance to the property and a garden gate.  To the left, we walk down to the main garden area, passing a useful store room or small workshop (approx 3 x 2m).

The main garden is walled, for total privacy, with a gate in the wall leading out to the communal entrance path.  The garden consists of flowering shrubs and cactus, and a lovely covered seating area at the far end.  There is plenty of space here to add an above ground pool, larger than the dip pool in the patio.

The property is entirely surrounded by orchards growing oranges, lemons and avocados, and a dry stream (has a trickle of water in it in the Winter) borders the property at a lower level on the far side, which is where the neighbours park.

A simply delightful property, perfect for anyone looking for rural character and original Andalusian charm, fully habitable, but still with plenty of potential for further improvement.
