Situated on a quiet street on the outer edges of the village of Alcaucin, Casa Castaña (Chestnut Tree House) is charming and rustic, with beams, rustic floor tiles, wooden windows and plenty of original charm. The house is deceptively large, compared with its outer facade.

The front door leads into a large hallway, (5 x 3m) with pretty stone floor detail, a staircase to the far right and an electronic programmable pellet stove burner. Straight ahead, a wide corridor leads to the door to the inner patio, with a door to the right on the way leading into the ground floor guest bedroom (currently used as storage – 3.5 x 3m).

The patio is typical of these old houses, traditionally designed to bring light into the house, and this patio (3 x 2m) has been covered, so that you do not get soaked on a rainy day crossing through the house! From the patio, a door to the right leads into the downstairs bathroom with walk-in shower, and laundry (3 x 2.5m).

To the far end of the patio, a door leads on, into the very large lounge/kitchen dining area, in open plan style (total size of area 9.5 x 4.5m, plus utility). The fully fitted, rustic style kitchen has a central island with cupboard space below, and there is also a useful utility room.

Also from the landing is the twin bedroom (3 x 2m) with window over the patio, and also the upstairs guest shower room (3 x 1m), also with window over the patio. The master bedroom is a generous 9 x 4.5m, including a beautiful bathroom with bath and separate walk-in shower. The room has wall-to-wall wardrobes on one side with curtains (it could be doors if preferred) and at the far end is a window and doors onto a Juliet style balcony, overlooking the garden and mountains beyond.

The garden is very private, with a patio and barbecue area closest to the house, and the 8 x 4m pool is its central feature. To the rear are two brick-built garden sheds, very useful storage space.
