Full Description

A piece of Nova Scotia History - First time on the market! George D. Saks of New York built the lodge, in 1924. It is one of three lodges built between 1921 and 1924 on Long Tusket Lake. In 1942 Mr. Saks sold the lodge to Dr. B.P. Tyler who purchased the lodge for his eldest son, who unfortunately was killed at Iwo Jima in World War II. After the war, Dr. Tyler spent his summers at the lodge until he sold it to Paul H. Stehelin in 1959. Paul H. Stehelin was the grandson of Emile Stehelin, the founder of New France and the Electric City in 1893, which is approximately 2 miles from the lodge, between Little Tusket and Langford Lake. The lodge has remained in the Stehelin family since that time. The lodge offers kitchen and bedroom connected through a breezeway with living room and 2 other bedrooms. All bedrooms have an outside access to the deck. Long Tusket Lake is the headway of the Silver River and is approximately 20 km from Weymouth. Weymouth is located approx. 35 km from Digby with all important amenities and a year round ferry to St. John, N.B. Halifax Stanfield International Airport is approximately 250 km. Surrounded land is owned by the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) and has been designated as ecologically sensitive by the Federal Environment Department. Call for more info and to book a viewing!
