Full Description

This spacious village house, built originally for a wine merchant, is set right in the centre of the small village of St Jean de Maruéjols, in the north of the Gard. In the village you have two restaurants, a baker, a pharmacy, a butchers, a grocery store, a florist, a dentist and a doctor, a garage, a vineyard with shop, and a primary school. In addition, the lovely renaissance village of Barjac is just 10 minutes' drive away, and Uzès is around 30 minutes. The medieval town of St Ambroix is 15 minutes away, and here you have all facilities.
Although the house faces onto the village road, double fronted, the main living area is at the back, where it is very quiet. Here the house leads out onto a charming garden with covered "summer living room" and "summer kitchen", right alongside the pool, for those long hot days! At the front of the house is a very large studio/workshop, with a pretty bathroom attached...this can either be rented out as a gite, or used commercially as a gift shop, tea shop, wellbeing or dance studio...lots of potential. All four bedrooms are large and roomy, and there is a farmhouse kitchen, and separate sitting room
It is just ten minutes away from Barjac, with its renowned Friday market, and the following places are within 30 minutes' drive: Caverne du Pont d'Arc, The Ardèche Gorges, Ruoms, Les Vans, two famous caves "Orgnac l'Aven" and "La Cocalière", the Chassezac Canyons, and the medieval town of St Ambroix, with its weekly market and flea market, and that of Les Vans, with markets, cafés and restaurants.
This corner of the Gard is a beautiful unspoilt region. There is so much to see and do here. Lots of lively weekly markets, where producers sell their own produce, stunning walks, canoeing, and many famous caves. You can swim in the rivers, go to water parks, visit lovely old walled towns, have a coffee in the sunshine, go wine tasting at one of the many vineyards or sample the very famous Ardèche beer!
