Built in 1927 (it says so on the threshold) this property has remained unchanged since the day it was built (apart from running repairs, that is). Given its age, it is in remarkable good condition, so if you are looking for original rustic features, this is the one for you!
You enter through large original wooden doors, and the first thing that catches your eye is the original track way through the house, which would have been used to move the livestock from the street to the byre at the rear. It is becoming increasingly rare to find houses with this feature fully intact.
The house is laid out in the traditional Overeño fashion. The hallway leads to a living area, off which you will find a double bedroom to the front, and to the rear a salon/dining room. Stairs lead up, but we’ll come back to those.
Through the back doors is the splendid patio, with a large lemon tree and it’s own well. This is also from where you access the kitchen, although it would be possible to make a doorway into the main house. The kitchen is again very traditional, with the original canopy still in place and no doubt the new owner will want to modernise this.
Across the patio is the stables, where the family donkey(s) would have been kept. The stall is still in place along with storage bins for fodder. Above this area is the hay loft, which at present can only be accessed from the doorway at the front. This whole rear area would make ideal guest accommodation once converted.
The stairs leading upstairs in the man house have lovely original tiles. They lead into a large room, off which you will find two bedrooms with Juliette balconies onto the front street. There is also the bathroom and another set of stairs. At the top of these you will find the original storage bins for grain and legumes, but could be made into further bedrooms by raising the roof, and no doubt adding a roof terrace at the same time (subject to planning of course).
All in all, this is a great house in original condition, well maintained and full of possibilities.
