Pretty Hamlet Cottage, Restored with Attention to Detail - Attached Private Gardens

They do not come much prettier than this!

Built around 1790 with some very impressive steps at the front door; most probably the spoils from a much grander house pillaged in the revolution, sits this very pretty cottage. In a small, well kept hamlet on the Vienne/Charente borders and only 5 minutes drive from the nearest two villages with bar/restaurant, post office, pharmacy and general stores; and 15 minutes drive from supermarkets and all the other shops needed for everyday living, this has been the perfect lock up and go holiday home for this couple since 2009.

The garden is large 1867m2 but laid to lawn so easier to maintain. The renovation has been a labour of love, with all products used being sourced for their ecological benefits as well as being in keeping with the age of the property. The paint in the interior of the house was sourced from Germany and is specifically for historic buildings.

The town of L'Isle Jourdain is only 15 minutes drive; with all its shopping, bars, restaurants and amenities. Confolens and Civray, both major towns are 25 minutes away

Poitiers airport and train station are under one hour away, Limoges airport is a one hour minute drive. Rural but close to main links, the best of both worlds.

The property rests towards the end of the hamlet, mid terrace but with very private back garden and a gated and gravelled garden to the front. The back garden can be accessed independently, (after buying the house the couple negotiated land at the back so they could have car access to the garden).

The current owners have restored the property; but it still has some scope for you to put you own mark on it.

The house benefits from mains electricity and water; drainage is to a hamlet system which conforms. It is Double glazed upstairs and single glazed downstairs. The electrics were redone in 2009/10 and the roof was replaced in 1997. Heating is a wood burning fire, with electric radiators for secondary heating, should they be needed. Broadband is available.
