Full Description

H ere we have a lovely Stone Built Cottage with Character Interior comprising: 2 Bedrooms, Lounge and a Kitchen / Diner plus garden of 519m2.

This lovely cottage needs to be visited to appreciate its interior character. It was totally renovated in 1978 so there will be some updating to be done.

The accommodation is as follows.

There are 2 entrances into the cottage, one at the back and double doors from the front. The back door leads directly into the fitted kitchen and open plan lounge diner area, from here, a little bathroom with Wash hand basin and WC. Wooden stairway up to the master bedroom. Double doors from the front of the property into the dining lounge area, the lounge has a cosy wood burning stove.

An interior doorway leading to the extended accommodation with a slate tiled roof this area which is full of charm and could be used as a study, or a separate lounge, from here a downstairs bedroom and upper mezzanine area.

The drainage system would need to be checked to assure it conforms to current regulations.

The garden is to the front of the property, there is also a terrace area.

This property would be ideal as a pied a terre holiday home with low maintenance.

Rural setting

The department of Finistere has a feeling of being carved out of the earth by the sea and is the wildest area of Brittany, it is also the most western of all French departments. The name Finistere comes from the Latin phrase 'finis terrae', meaning 'land's end'.

It has the English Channel to the north, Cotes-d'Armor and Morbihan to the east, the Bay of Biscay to the south and the Atlantic Ocean to the west.

Quimper, the department's capital, is located to the south and has a distinctive Breton character just like all the main towns such as Brest, Chateaulin, Morlaix and Quimper. Over a third of the area is covered with forest, moors and scrubland.

Along the coast, farmers divide their time between commercial fishing and working their small farms. To see the Fish-markets, Douarnenez is worth a visit as is Brest which is on the west coast and is also a major naval port.
