Full Description

Casale Belvedere is a semi-detached, traditional Tuscan farmhouse with living accommodation, cantinas and a separate outbuilding set in a sought-after location. The home is perched on a hilltop with lovely views out over the surrounding countryside and is less than 3 km from the medieval hilltop town of Anghiari, which dates back to the Roman times and became of significant strategic importance during the medieval period. Anghiari is located 429 m above sea level, in eastern Tuscany, close to the borders with Umbria and Marche making it an ideal location from which to explore central Italy and beyond.
Anghiari was also where the famous Battle of Anghiari took place on 29th June 1440 between the Milanese troops and the coalition of Florentine, Venetian and Papal troops. The battle was later depicted by Leonardo da Vinci, probably on one of the main walls of the Hall of the 500 in Florence’s town hall, only to be painted over by another great maestro, Giorgio Vasari and to this day mystery still surrounds Leonardo’s painting, which, for this reason, is also known as the “Lost Leonardo”.
Casale Belvedere is currently set out over 3 floors (including the attic) for a total of approx. 263 sq m, as follows:
• Ground floor: 4 cantinas, storeroom and WC.
• First floor: open space kitchen/diner with original stone fireplace, 2 large double bedrooms, study (or third bedroom) and bathroom.
• Second floor: large attic space with wooden beamed ceiling.
Close to the main building is a c. 75 sq m, single storey outbuilding (the old stables) currently used to store lemon trees in the winter months and general equipment.
The buildings are set out around a lovely old oak tree which takes pride of place in the centre of the garden.
The old stables could easily be transformed into an independent apartment if desired.
The property is in need of some work but the location and style of the building make it a great project to take on.
The property is surrounded by approx. 2 hectares of land, ideal for a small vineyard and olive grove. Within the grounds is also a useful barn, used for general storage.
The property has its own water well, and an LPG gas tank for heating and hot water and electricity from the national grid.
Access to the property is via tarmac road making it very comfortable and quick to access without having to drive up winding, dusty, white roads in the summer months.
