Randazzo lies at the foot of the famous volcano Etna, and is the town nearest to the crater. Randazzo is approx. 47 kms from the popular and very beautiful seaside town of Taormina. The town is steeped in history and is famous for its volcanic lava stone buildings that were used for many centuries to construct roads and to highlight buildings, including houses and its many churches. In fact, its most famous church, Santa Maria, is made entirely of lava stone.
