Area Guide Colonia de Sant Jordi/Ses Salines.

The upbeat coastal resort of Colonia Sant Jordi in southeast Mallorca was traditionally a fishing village, but now has much more to offer than just seafood. Situated on almost the southern-most tip of the island in the municipality of Ses Salines this village attracts an active, sporty crowd of visitors. There are many things to see and do in the surrounding areas, particularly during the holiday season. Colonia Sant Jordi has a number of beaches to choose from including the busy Platija d’Es Port by the main marina and the quieter coves of Es Caragol, Es Carbo and Ses Roquetes, which are well-sheltered offering calm waters and protection from the wind.

Ses Salines is a small town and municipality situated in one of the most beautiful parts of southeast Mallorca. This unassuming little place is easy to overlook, but holds clues to the rich history of the island dating back to the Bronze Age.
As well as the early archaeology there is the national park, exceptional coastline and un-spoilt beaches to explore. The major attractions of Ses Salines are natural. You can also visit the salt flats which are turned into snowy white salt mountains after the annual harvest, which yields around 15,000 tons of salt. Botanicactus is one of Europe’s largest botanical gardens and is within 3-kilometres of the town. Also close by is the award winning natural beach of ‘Es Trenc’.
The marine reserve of Cabrera is also within easy distance as day boats depart from nearby Colonia Sant Jordi and Cala D’Or.
