The airport at Sitia is within a 30 minute drive, whilst the international airport at Heraklion can be reached within 90 minutes.
Nearby Mochlos is a small unspoiled fishing village with a quiet bay, harbour area, delightful waterfront tavernas and small rocky beaches. There is a simple village shop and several gift shops all of which are open during the summer months. Directly opposite the village is the island of Mochlos home to an archaeological site of an ancient Minoan settlement; boat trips are available for short visits across to the island.
