The town of Stari Grad can be traced back to 2,000BC when it was initially called Pharos, after the Greek city of the same name. The house is tucked away in one of the many lovely cobblestone streets which act as a labyrinth of interconnecting paths around the old town where one can stumble upon the quaintest of family-owned restaurants offering a mouth-watering selection of local cuisine. Stari Grad also has a record-beating number of cafe bars, which is a prerequisite to the Mediterranean style of life. The local area also boasts some excellent beaches in the vicinity.

Stari Grad ferry port is home to Jadrolinija who offer a comprehensive service to the mainland with up to 6 ferry crossings in the summer months. Nearby, the town of Jelsa has a daily catamaran service also run by Jadrolinija to Split via the town of Bol on Brac Island.
