Chianni is a lovely town in Tuscany with a few nice shops, good coffee bars, a pizzeria, a great new bistro and a lovely hotel with restaurant and a small spa. It is just 40 mins from Pisa airport. In Chianni you can do the most varied activities: from cooking classes, painting courses, Italian language courses, wine tastings, discover olive oil and other regional products, walks in the woods, Vespa excursions, guided tours in the surrounding historical places, golf and more. The coastal cities of Castiglioncello and Cecina on the coast, the golf courses of Pisa and Castelfalfi, and the historic towns of Volterra and San Gimignano are all close by, and each make a wonderful day out. The town is located in Valdera in Central Tuscany between Pisa and Florence. This colourful landscape of rolling hills is dotted with medieval villages, castles and lanes flanked with tall dark green cypress trees, all of which epitomise the Tuscan landscape. The nearby città d’arte (cities of art) include Volterra, San Gimignano, Palaia and Florence, each offering splendid art and architecture to admire. In Lajatico, Andrea Bocelli, the famous tenor, was born and it is in the heart of Valdera that his Teatro del Silenzio (the Theatre of Silence) draws some of the biggest names in opera, when he hosts a summer festival each year in July. The spa town of Casciana Terme, also in the area, has thermal waters and spa which are open to visit and enjoy. It is a pretty town with piazzas and cafès serving the local wine.
