The village of Tormos is situated approximately 1 hour from Alicante and Valencia Airports. The nearest main towns are Denia, Pedreguer, Oliva & Javea they are all a short distance drive away, about 15/20 mins. A 20 minute drive takes you to the fine, white sandy beaches.

The history of Tormos dates back to about 1290 when the Arabs dominated the peninsula. Later in 1609, it was taken over by the Moors. Today it has approximately 380 habitants. Neighbouring towns are Sagra, Sanet Y Negrals, Orba, Ondara, Denia, Els Poblets, El Verger, Beniarbeig just naming a few. Just a 15 minute drive away will take you to the large out of town shopping centre Portal de la Marina Shopping centre where you will find Carrefour, Aldi, Kiwoko, Leroy merlin, Fosters Hollywood, Kentucky, cinema, Zara and numerous other stores.

The village is quiet and traditional with an Ajuntament (town hall), bars /restaurants, a few shops, church and plenty of beautiful walks.

For local markets the largest in this area is Pedreguer which has a Sunday market day. This is a very popular market and people come from all over the Costa Blanca and Costa Valencia to visit it. It has an abundance of fruit and vegetables, leather goods and various other market stalls including Rastro stalls offering a large selection of shopping for everyone.

Bar Almassera Tormos. This is the local restaurant and they serve traditional tapas or menu a la carte, friendly and very sociable.

El Cid Bar and Restaurant in Benidoleig is a super entertaining place to go in the summer months. They hold various activities such as BBQ, quiz nights, Caribbean nights, fish and chip nights (best fish n chips I have had here is Spain) Sunday is roast day where they do a carvery. The staff are always friendly warm and welcoming.

BB Restaurant El Verger the best chicken and very affordable, this place gets packed with locals and is busy all year round. The red wine is delicious and their chicken is cooked slowly on a spit roast with a range of beautiful spices and in marinade so it stays moist and succulent.

Black Flame Bar & Grill, Pedreguer they do an excellent carvery, homemade pies, fish and chips and have entertainment evenings too. Good value for money.

The main fiesta in Tormos, which is in honor of the town’s patron saint San Luis Beltran, is held during the first week of September. The streets are dressed with lights and colour and the locals participate in festivals.

Hiking is very popular on the mountain behind Tormos. There are walks for all levels and most people walk round to the cave which overlooks the coastline from Denia to Valencia.

Golf. There are two golf courses within 20 minutes’ drive. These are:
1. La Sella Golf Course – designed by the prolific José María Olazábal in 1991. La Sella is one of the most important courses designed by the 2-time champion of the Masters in Agusta.
Enjoy in Denia a 27-hole round of golf, known internationally for its excellent conditions for playing golf throughout the year. Its area of 6,289 metres has been played by the top names in European golf.
The 27-holed La Sella Golf Club is surrounded by a Mediterranean ecosystem of woods and mountains and is flanked by the impressive Montgó Natural Park. From every corner of the course you can see different species of olive trees, orange trees and almond trees, which makes this course, along with the pleasant climate, a golfer’s paradise.

2. Oliva Nova Golf Course has 9 or 18 holes and you can choose where you wish to play. It was designed by world famous Spanish golfer Seve Ballesteros. The course is next to the beach situated on a 5-star complex. There is a driving range, professional coaches for lessons for all abilities.

Tennis
La Sella boasts 6 international standard clay courts and 2 astro tennis courts. Coaching is available in English and various other languages and for all standards.

Equestrian Centre Oliva Nova has the world’s best riders that gathered in the Equestrian Centre Oliva Nova. The MET 2014 was attended by riders from Germany, France, Spain, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, USA, Portugal, Russia, Turkey, Malaysia, Chile, South Africa and Switzerland, amongst others. All in all, about 350 male and female riders from 44 countries and five continents as well as a total of more than 2,000 horses from the world’s best stables participated in an intense schedule of international competitions in Show Jumping and Young Horses.

Walking, Hiking and Cycling. The winter months here in Spain are ideal for these activities as the weather is beautiful. Temperatures can still be in the early 20’s during the sunny days and we do get a lot of those. Castle walks, hiking groups, and cycle routes on the area are very popular for these activities. There is a group called the U3A that have these groups look at their website and become a member for just a few euros a year.

Karting along the N332 towards Denia is available at Oliva Karting. You can book as a group or just walk in and enquire about a fun day out.

Water Parks and Theme Parks. Just 30 minutes’ drive down the AP7.
Aqualandia and Terra Mitica. Aqualandia is a great day out if you have children or grandchildren or just want to go for fun. It has the tallest water shoot in Europe and a vertical slide which just drops. Terra Mitica has roller coasters, swinging rides, dropping rides and pretty much everything else you can think of.

What a fabulous choice of beaches to go to. 24km of BLUE FLAG BEACHES, see below for the local selection.

Les Rotes. This is a marine reserve section of the coastline where no boats are allowed to moor. It is popular for snorkelling, diving and paddle boarding. The coastline here is rocky so a beach chair will make the stay comfortable. Apart from being protected, it is very picturesque with a few restaurants overlooking the blue sea and dramatic cliff faces. There is a walk from Denia Marina all the way to the lighthouse.

Denia Marina. You can spend a whole day here just eating, watching the boats and walking along the boardwalk to the lighthouse. You can hire a chartered yacht for the day, go out on a Catamaran or hire jet skis. There are various restaurants and a few shops to browse. The marina caters for lifting the larger yachts out of the water for maintenance and accommodates clients who have a 70 feet yacht. Denia also has the dinghy competitions and various other sailing activities.
Les Marines boasts of beautiful sandy beaches all the way up to Els Poblets. Along this section of the coast it is popular with tourists as there are many restaurants, shops, kite surfing and quiet sunbathing sections. During the summer months, there are sun loungers and parasols to hire so you do not need to take a load of things down to the beach with you.

Els Poblets is where you can find a pebble beach where you can get your small dinghy or boat into the water easily. There are restaurants, wind surfing and various other activities.

Deveses is another section of golden beaches that has shops, bars and restaurants set back off the beach. Once again, it is very popular in the summer months among the people from Madrid who are trying to escape the heat from the city. There are sun loungers and parasols to hire along this section.
