Set in the Lunigiana hills, on the border with the province of Lucca, this lovely little cabin is set in a tranquil wooded area, with wonderful views.

The house is approached from the private parking, up a few steps to the verandah and then into the main living area. The feel is light and airy. There is a small corner kitchen, dining area, sitting area, a double bedroom and a single bedroom with bunk beds and a bathroom with shower. There is a wood burning stove. Underneath the house is a good cantina (storeroom) which acts as a laundry and storage area and another cantina which has been partially excavated with a window, which offers possibilities. Outside is a patio area, and ideal place to dine 'al fresco'.

The house is surrounded by 2,800 sqm of woodland (around two-thirds of an acre) which is private and secluded with two small streams. The views are lovely. There is a possibility of a swimming pool, subject to planning.

The house is close to a small village in the municipality of Casola in Lunigiana which is a small town set on the hill above the Aulella river with the houses huddled around its central stone tower. Famous for its stone statues that date back to the Neolithic age and are thought to be gifts to the moon Goddess. There is a selection of shops and restaurants in the town, a chemist and in the neighbouring village a train station with direct trains to Lucca. There are beautiful views to the Apuan mountains and cobbled lanes lead from the town to the river.

Lunigiana is a magical part of Tuscany. The hills that encircle Lunigiana create an intimate and relaxed atmosphere whilst the blend of the mountains and sea are extremely inviting to those who enjoy the outdoors. The rolling landscape is liberally sprinkled with castles of Medici or Malaspina vintage and for lovers of the coast the sea is only half-an-hour away. The golden sandy beaches around Lerici and the pebble coves of the Cinque Terre are ideal for swimming and sailing. The area is criss-crossed with marked footpaths for walks to the hills and mountains. The airports of Pisa, Parma and Genova are all just over an hour away.
