Isla Plana is a small coastal village on the Bay of Mazarron. It has a very Spanish feel about it and is popular due to its position, the gently sloping sandy beach, numerous restaurants and bars. At its heart is the ´social club´ with its fantastic setting facing the church across a small bay; a wonderful place to enjoy a cool drink whilst taking in the stunning views. The beautiful Bay of Mazarrón has over 35 km of beaches, unspoiled coves and rocky sea beds making it an ideal place for relaxing in the sun, enjoying nautical sports and scuba-diving. Stretching from La Azohia at one end to Bolnuevo it is quite charming with its new promenades lined with palm trees, variety of beaches and coves plus the smart new marina in Puerto de Mazarrón. Each village has a small selection of bars, restaurants and shops however more choice is available in Puerto de Mazarrón. This area has always been popular with the Spanish who have been holidaying here for years. It is still far less commercialized than other areas. The pace of life is relaxed and the traditional bars and restaurants offer good value for money. The climate is excellent as the bay is enclosed by mountain ranges giving it a `micro climate´ resulting in more than 300 days of sunshine every year with the temperature rarely falling below 18 degrees Centigrade! Over the summer months there is a vibrant local market in each village where you can buy locally grown fruit and vegetables. If you want a bigger selection there is a much larger market every Sunday throughout the year in Puerto de Mazarron.
