Mel Gibson Cannes apartment on sale

Mel Gibson Cannes apartment on sale

An A-list Cannes apartment which has played host to Mel Gibson and several other members of the Hollywood aristocracy has gone on sale ahead of the annual Cannes film festival which begins today.

The fifth-floor duplex property is described as “one of the most exclusive penthouse apartments on the Côte d'Azur” thanks to its prime spot directly opposite the Palais des Festivals where the international film festival takes place every year. Its view of the red carpet is so unobstructed that it has been regularly used by the BBC for its filming of the event.

As well as a large living and dining area there are four bedrooms each with ensuite bathrooms. The property also includes a security alarm, an open fireplace, a Jacuzzi and a top-class fitted kitchen. In addition, there is a roof terrace spanning around 250 sqm planted with palm and olive trees and featuring an outdoor kitchen and bar - perfect for the post festival party.

Interested buyers are being asked to submit a bid for the property to Engel & Völkers in Cannes which has not provided a price for the sale. However, the company believes that the property's prime position and high rental potential will see is comfortably exceed average property prices for the area, which are currently around 50,000 euros per square metre.

This year's Cannes Film Festival takes place between the 16th -27th May.
