Retired engineer Paul Ackerman and his partner Lindy Horton, a former nursery school teacher from the Midlands, are selling their home and looking forward to a new life in the sun. They already own a holiday home in Spain, but they’re now looking to upgrade to a larger family sized home where their children and grandchildren can visit, and they can live year round.

They're not, however, looking for an easy retirement. They’re planning to take on a new challenge by running their home as a B&B business, and want it to be somewhere where they can be part of the ‘authentic Spain’ so that they don’t fall into the trap of becoming typical expats which is why they’re househunting in Gandia, Valencia,  an area which is largely unknown by Brits.  It’s a tall order and they only have a relocation budget of £150,000.
