Jonnie Irwin and Jasmine Harman discuss buying property in Florida
Jonnie and Jasmine help retired couple David and Diane invest in a holiday home. But will they choose Lyme Bay or Tampa Bay?
Retired couple David and Diane are torn between a holiday cottage in north Devon and a condo in Florida. Both have emotional ties to their chosen destinations - David has spent many happy holidays on the Devon coast while Diane, who is originally from Canada, wants to be nearer her parents who are no longer mobile enough to make the trip over to the UK. Rental income is also an important factor in their decision. Will they decide to invest their money at home or away?
Home properties - Devon
David has fond memories of the east Devon coast from his holidays in the area, and he is not alone in his affections for this part of the world. Over 22 million people a year visit the area meaning that a property here would be a shrewd investment. Property in east Devon is 20% above the national average and is in short supply. There are currently government schemes in place to increase the number of affordable homes. This will also make a property here a desirable investment as it is almost guaranteed to increase in value.
Away properties - Florida
The couple have reduced their budget for their overseas search, but Jasmine still believes she can get them something special which will become a home and an investment. With it's high temperatures and miles of beach, Florida is the most popular relocation destination in the U.S. Will David and Diane be joining the 1,000 people who move there everyday?
