A Place in the Sun: Home or Away? North Wales or Italy

Will Angela choose Abruzzo in Italy or a home in north Wales as the place to move with her six cats, three dogs and three donkeys?

More about Angela and her property search

Angela Lawson currently lives in Cornwall with her son Toby, 6 cats, 3 dogs and 3 donkeys. She has a dream to open an animal sanctuary and surround herself with even more of a menagerie, but desperately needs more land.

Her best friend Norma doesn't want to lose her overseas and is convinced that North Wales will give her the space and isolation she requires, but Angela has a craving for Italy where she thinks she'll be able to get even more land for her money, allowing her to rescue even more animals. But is she thinking too much about the animals and not enough about where she would like to be located? And can Norma convince her that she needs to think about her own needs too?

Home properties - North Wales

An area of outstanding natural beauty, Denbighshire is the fastest growing county in North Wales due to it's rugged landscapes, space and beautiful flint built houses. In the last few years the population has grown by over 3.5%.  It offers Angela the space and the tranquility she needs, and will also allow her transport her animals across far more easily.  Surrounded by castles, sites of interest and stately homes, the county also has historical interest which is something that Angela, who dislikes modern buildings, will appreciate.

Property 1
The first property Angela views is a three bed cottage with 2.5 acres of land which is on the market for £249,950. It is being sold by Monks Chartered Surveyors.

Property 2
Next Angela is shown another three bed farmhouse with 4.79 acres of  land. This is on sale for £265,000. It is being sold by Tom Parry & Co

Property 3
The final Welsh property is a £235,000 farmhouse with 5 acres of land sold by Bowen Son and Watson

Away properties - Abruzzo, Italy

Abruzzo has an old fashioned way of life that should suit Angela. She likes a slower pace and a remote location, and the region has not changed for centuries. It is traditionally thought of by Italians as a remote and mountainous region, but it is bordered by popular sandy beaches meaning a great and varied terrain for Angela's donkeys and horses. House prices are between 40 and 70% lower than Tuscany for a similar size property meaning that she may be right about being able to afford something more spacious for her menagerie.

Property 1
The first Italian property to tempt Angela is a £132,000 farmhouse on with Abruzzo Property Sales

Property 2
Next up is another Abruzzo Property Sales  property, this time priced at £115,000.

Property 3

The final property is also being sold by Abruzzo Property Sales. It costs  £158,000.
