Marketing Intern - Summer 2012

A Place in the Sun is the UK’s leading overseas property media brand with a well-known Channel 4 television show, a market-leading magazine, a website and two live exhibitions each year. This small but busy company has a vacancy for a Marketing Intern, offering the opportunity to learn about marketing of a television brand to an exhibition-going consumer audience.


This is a three-month unpaid internship from 2nd July – 30th September. 

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to put into practice marketing techniques you have learnt/are learning during the course of your marketing degree and at the end of your internship to put together a portfolio of the work you have created.


Reporting to the Digital & Marketing Director, you will be based in our central London office, next to Borough Market near London Bridge during the hours of Monday – Friday 9am – 5.30pm

You will have the opportunity to;

* To play an active part in all aspects of the company’s activities.  To liaise and communicate with all the relevant departments where necessary.
* To work with the partners and exhibitors of A Place in the Sun Live to market the event to an audience of British buyers of overseas property creating and distributing online and printed marketing packs.
* To work with the design team to create marketing collateral such as leaflets, posters to a brief and house-style for A Place in the Sun Live.
* To use two website content management systems to update the A Place in the Sun Live areas of the website and the online exhibitor manual.
* To generate press coverage for the exhibition in the form of news stories and ticket competitions in external media by telephone, following distribution of press releases.
* To share responsibility for answering the switchboard calls and directing the enquiry internally to the relevant person.
* To conduct yourself in a professional manner and represent the A Place in the Sun brand at the highest level in all dealings with clients and agencies.
* To attend A Place in the Sun Live on 28th-30th September to assist with general on-site exhibition duties.


Person Specification

• You will have or be studying towards a degree level qualification in marketing.
• Any marketing specific qualifications such as CAM or CIM would be advantageous but not a necessity.
• Preferable to have some experience in an office environment (possibly as an intern, year out role or 1st job)
